Shoaib Akhtar wants the PCB to launch a team named “Pindi Express” for Rawalpindi in PSL 2026. Can he buy it himself?
Pakistan’s fastest bowler and in fact, the fastest bowler in the world Shoaib Akhtar has demanded that the PCB launch a new franchise in HBL PSL 2026 named Pindi Express, because he himself is from Rawalpindi and his cricket legacy began there. He also stated that the city has produced many great cricketers.
When Shoaib Akhtar was asked on a TV show which team he would like to play for in PSL 2025, he replied, “First of all, I would have my own team in the PSL, and it would be called Pindi Express. It would have four dangerous fast bowlers, and their job would be just to abuse the batsmen and break their legs. Pindi Express would be an aggressive team.”
Sohail Tanvir and Sana were also on the show with Shoaib Akhtar. They supported Shoaib Akhtar’s opinion and said that he is a legendary player, and since he was famously known as the “Pindi Express,” there definitely should be a team with that name.

On a TV show called The Dugout, Shoaib Akhtar said, “If Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis left no legacy., then did Hafeez left any legacy?” Shoaib Akhtar stated that there are good players in the Pakistani team, but if you don’t perform in big events, then you will be criticized.
